Following on from Wednesday's Senior Girls 7s Final at Kingspan Stadium it was the turn of the Junior girls (Year 9-11) on Thursday at the Mid-Ulster Sports Arena, Cookstown.
The Girls’ Schools’ 7s is played on a series basis with points accumulated over the various events to determine the winner from the 8 Junior teams involved. Ahead of yesterday’s event, Erne Integrated were leading the way closely followed by Enniskillen Royal Grammar School.
St Columbanus, Bangor came close to ruining the plan for Enniskillen Royal Grammar School with the Enniskillen side grinding out a tough fought 5-4 victory. Meanwhile, Erne Integrated looked like they were picking up where they had left off at the previous event as they secured a 5-3 victory over Fivemiletown College in their first game.
Enniskillen Royal Grammar School clocked up a second win from two when they faced Fivemiletown College in the second round of games.
The third round of games saw the two Fermanagh sides come head to head. This time around the Royal Grammar School overcame Erne Integrated with a narrow 6-5 victory. With one game left to play, Enniskillen Royal Grammar School’s fate lay in their own hands, although an Erne Integrated defeat at the hands of Magh Ene Bundoran meant that the Trophy was mathematically out of reach for Erne.
Enniskillen Royal Grammar reaffirmed their position as the best team on the day with a win in their final game and, with a flawless 4 from 4 on the day, they were crowned 2018 Danske Bank Ulster Junior Girls Schools 7s Champions.
