Hosted by Cool FM's Pete Snodden, the presenter chatted to a panel which included Head Coach, Richie Murphy, Assistant Coach, Jimmy Duffy and two of Ulster's new summer signings in Werner Kok and Aidan Morgan.
The evening started off with a warm welcome to Richie Murphy, who told the audience how pleased he has been with the province's pre-season preparations, with the Head Coach satisfied with the fitness and application of the squad in the build up to the season. Murphy revealed that the squad are 'fitter and stronger' than they were last season and that with the help of new Strength and Conditioning coach, Sam Dodge, a large majority of the team have hit new top speeds as they look to raise their game.
Assistant Coach, Jimmy Duffy, was then given a welcome and he said that he has enjoyed working in the pre-season after joining the club from Western Force. Duffy told the panel that he is feeling settled into his new surroundings and pleased with the talent and buy-in from the forwards he now works with.
Duffy explained about how he got into coaching, after a promising rugby career was halted at 21 years-old by a heart condition. The disappointment of his playing career ending was a bitter pill to swallow, however he got involved with coaching two years later and hasn't looked back.
The former second row said that he is enjoying working with Ulster's forwards adding that there are a number of young forward who 'can be the backbone of this Ulster side for the next ten years', as well as singling out Iain Henderson and Al O'Connor for their experience and leadership roles.
Duffy was asked about reuniting with Murphy, after the two had previously worked together with the Irish Under 20s. The Galway man said that it is great to work with Murphy again and that he was looking forward to seeing this Ulster side develop in the months ahead.
Werner Kok was up next and the South African showed his bright personality that will go down well with Ulster fans. The former Sevens Blitzboks star explained how he transitioned from the Sevens game into the XVs arena and that he had been pleasantly surprised about the good spell of weather in Ulster.
Kok said that his aim would be to bring the best of his game onto the pitch and that Ulster fans can expect a physical player who wants to be busy and score tries. He also revealed that he has experienced the other side of a loud Kingspan Stadium and that he can't wait to get the fans excited.
Aidan Morgan told the audience a bit about his rugby journey and making the move from Auckland to Belfast. The 23 year-old fly-half said his main motivation for joining Ulster was to grow his game and that it was a fantastic opportunity for him to take at this stage of his career.
Season-Ticket holders were then given the chance to ask questions to the panel, and covered a wide range of topics.
The topic of Emerging Ireland was discussed and Richie Murphy explained how the upcoming tour will be a great opportunity for six Ulster players to work and learn in an international camp, with the prospect of coming back to their province better for the experiences.
One fan took his moment to compliment Werner Kok on his flowing locks, with Snodden following up the praise by asking him what conditioner he uses.
Kok was also asked if any former Ulster players from South Africa had been in touch about his move and the wing said that Ulster legend, Ruan Pienaar, had spoken to him about the move. He also added that Duane Vermeulen and Marcell Coetzee had only good words to say about living and playing in Ulster.
Richie Murphy concluded the evening with a message of excitement for the season ahead, adding that results will matter but that the team are focusing on improving overall performance for the coming campaign.
