Ferris Visits Old Warren Primary School

Ulster and Ireland rugby legend, Stephen Ferris paid a surprise visit to pupils at Old Warren Primary School in Lisburn last week.

Ferris, who is currently out of action with an ankle injury, took time out of his busy rehabilitation schedule to pass on some rugby tips, pose for photos and sign autographs.

The visit was arranged by Ulster Rugby's Community Rugby Coach, Roy Lawton, who is responsible for the growth of rugby in the Lisburn area.

Roy is currently delivering six week programmes to P4-P6 pupils, many of whom had no prior rugby experience.

Principal, Sean Campbell was delighted with the visit and confessed that as well as naming their main hall 'Ferris Hall' after Stephen, they've even called one of their house teams Stephen Ferris House.

The coaching sessions from Lawton have been made possible due to the generous support of the NI Executive and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure through the 'Promoting Equality, Tackling Poverty and Social Exclusion through Sport' programme.
