First 3rd Level Female Rugby Blitz

The first in a series of female rugby blitzes planned for third level female players took place at Ulster University Coleraine last week.

Ulster Rugby are currently working with Ulster University and Queens University to promote female rugby throughout various campuses.

Last Wednesday, players from Magee, Jordanstown, Coleraine and Queens University gathered at the Ulster University in Coleraine.  The session was led by Ulster Rugby staff and Ulster University’s Development Officer, Johnathan Black.

Due to the adverse weather the players were forced onto the 3G pitch where they focused on handling skills and decision making. The girls were then spilt into teams and played a round-robin series of touch rugby games.

We will be hoping for better weather for the next session which is scheduled for Queens University on Wednesday 8th March. The Queens girls are also keen for the travelling players to join them for a night out in Belfast afterwards. These sessions are open to any third level female students and staff, even those not attached to Ulster University or Queens.
