Girl Guides give it a TRY

125 Girl guides aged 11-15 from across Ulster recently took part in a rugby festival at Valley Leisure Centre to support the Woman's Rugby World Cup.

In beautiful sunshine, the day got off to a great start with the girls splitting into 5 groups and rotating around 5 skills stations which gave them the opportunity to learn about rugby.

After lunch they had the chance to put into practice all the new skills they had learnt throughout the day by participating in small sided games. The Girl Guides also designed a participation badge which each girl guide received at the end of the festival.

The Women's Rugby World Cup trophy was also on show with many of the guides keen to get a snap!

The day wouldn’t have been a success without the support from Ulster Rugby Staff, Belfast Harlequins Women’s RFC, Cooke Women’s RFC, Malone Women’s RFC and Belfast Met Rugby Academy who all volunteered to deliver skills sessions throughout the day.

The response from the day was has been extremely positive with many enquiries about joining local youth teams. If you are part of a community organisation that would like to try rugby contact Jennifer Boyd for more information: Jennifer.Boyd@ulsterrugby.com
