Twenty new rugby players from Cooke RFC and Portadown RFC came together at Chambers Park, Portadown on Sunday for a joint training session and games led by Ulster Rugby development staff.
The girls have been taking part in an 8-week ‘Give It a Try’ programme, overseen and delivered by the volunteer coaches at their respective clubs. The two clubs plan to travel to Dublin in August to take part in a national ‘Give It a Try’ festival with players from Connacht, Leinster and Munster, whose clubs have been running the same initiative.
Congratulations to the girls who really impressed the coaches and parents on Sunday with their newly-acquired skills and enthusiasm.
Also, thanks to the coaches at Cooke RFC and Portadown RFC, who made the whole thing possible as, without their time and effort, these girls would never have got the opportunity.
Ulster Rugby is hosting a series of taster sessions for youth and adult females across the Province throughout August and September. Please click here for more information.
