Graduate Teaching Apprentice positions available for Pre-PGCE Students

The IRFU, in conjunction with Ulster Rugby, is running a national pilot programme to assist with the development and growth of rugby within schools. As a result, we are looking to recruit four recently qualified students who are intending to apply to a PGCE programme commencing in academic year 2017/2018.

The purpose of the programme is to provide successful applicants with a year of practical experience within a rugby playing grammar school in order to assist with application to and commencement of a PGCE qualification in the following year.

Successful applicants will receive practical experience of rugby coaching both within and outside of the school environment as well as the opportunity to undertake development activities within their chosen PGCE subject.

The programme is primarily aimed at those students who intend to study a PGCE subject other than PE, however potential PE PGCE students would not be excluded.

It is intended that the programme will run from the September 2016 through to June 2017. These positions are remunerated.

Candidates should be recently educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a relevant field or due to graduate with a degree in July 2016. They should also hold either an IRFU Stage 1 (Mini) or Stage 2 (Foundation) coaching qualification or equivalent, as well as have experience of coaching rugby to primary and/or secondary school aged children.
