The Player Participation Roadmap embraces the diversity within rugby across the province. It is an innovative tool that will provide a comprehensive guide for clubs in Ulster - empowering them to attract and retain players.
By offering a menu of programmes, each club can use the tool to tailor its approach to suit the dynamics of its local community.
Key features of the Player Participation Roadmap include:
- Flexibility: The Roadmap is designed to be flexible, allowing clubs to choose and tailor programmes based on their specific needs. Whether a club is focussed on nurturing elite talent, or creating a vibrant social rugby scene, the tool provides the framework for success.
- Support and Guidance: Ulster Rugby is committed to supporting its clubs through every step of their journey. From implementing programmes to troubleshooting challenges, the Roadmap includes resources and guidance to ensure the success of each initiative.
- Community Building: The Player Participation Roadmap emphasises community building - fostering connections among players, coaches, and supporters to create an inclusive rugby experience.
- Adaptability: Recognising that circumstances change, the Roadmap is adaptable. Clubs can reassess and realign their strategies to meet the evolving needs of their players and the community.
On the launch of the Roadmap, Rugby Operations Manager for Ulster Rugby, Barry Willis, said:
“We are delighted to be launching the Player Participation Roadmap today, which will be hosted on the Ulster Rugby website for all to access free of charge. By using the tool, we hope our clubs and schools can be supported to better understand the toolbox of participation programmes that are available, and are able to identify the right programmes to match their needs.”
Chair of Rugby Committeee for Ulster Rugby, Greg Irwin, added:
“Our Player Participation Roadmap is a strategic initiative by Ulster Rugby, and is part of our ongoing and proactive approach to support rugby in clubs and schools across the province. In a fast-changing world, it is imperative that we support them in promoting participation across all forms of rugby.
“We hope the development of the Roadmap is a valuable, practical way to understand the relevant challenges, and to identify potential solutions.”
