Are you looking for a fun, social, and active way to engage with rugby without the pressure of formal training? Ulster Rugby's 'Try Time' initiative is back and offering a fantastic opportunity to relaunch fun and fitness on the pitch for players of all ages and abilities.
Who is Try Time For?
Anyone and everyone! Try Time welcomes:
- New and existing players: Regardless of experience, age, or gender, all are welcome.
- Social players: Enjoy rugby without the structured training environment.
- Men and women: A fantastic opportunity to participate in a sport traditionally dominated by one gender.
- Minis & youth: Try Time is applicable for all ages.
Why take part in the programme?
The adult participation surveys of 2020 revealed that there is significant demand for a local, regular game for players, as part of their weekly activity habits.
This programme of activity increases the offer to new and existing members and pupils to join and play rugby and get more value for money for their annual subs.
How Can Your Club Get Involved?
Getting your club involved in Try Time is easy! Here's what you'll need:
- Pitch space: Provide a designated area for games.
- Dedicated Activator: A volunteer responsible for promoting Try Time, setting up pitches, and monitoring attendance.
What is provided by Ulster Rugby?
- Practical resources to guide 'the game'.
- Activator guidance if required.
- Promotion of programme on Ulster Rugby social media channels.
- Support from a member of Ulster Rugby Participation staff to get the programme up and running.
- Ulster Rugby Game Cards developed by Jordan Robinson.
- One-time £200 payment - this can be used on a piece of equipment to make your programme more enjoyable! e.g. a speaker, BBQ, food, gazebo, t-shirts etc.
The great thing about the Try Time programme is it can be completely tailored to your club and what you need. Some great examples of what has been done in the past:
- Fitness Bootcamp
- Ladies Tag
- Give It a Try Minis
- Walking Rugby
- The more creative, the better!
