Kingspan and Ulster Rugby champion sustainability with Planet Passionate match jerseys

Ulster Rugby and principal sponsor, Kingspan, are proud to highlight the importance of sustainability with a special edition jersey for this Friday’s BKT United Rugby Championship clash with Munster at Kingspan Stadium.

For one night only, the Kingspan logo on the Ulster jersey will be replaced by Kingspan’s Planet Passionate branding, showcasing the company’s ambitious global environmental sustainability programme.

The Planet Passionate programme aims to make a positive impact on three critical global challenges: climate change, circularity, and protection of the natural world. This bold initiative is central to Kingspan’s mission of accelerating a net-zero built environment future. The programme features measurable targets to reduce the environmental impact of Kingspan’s products, operations and supply chain and drive the company’s contribution to the circular economy.

The Ulster Rugby squad will don the special jerseys in celebration of Planet Passionate’s achievements to date and to further promote its call to action, reinforcing the importance of community collaboration in the journey toward a more sustainable future.

Holly Loughman, Head of Sustainability at Kingspan Group, commented: “We are delighted to spotlight our Planet Passionate programme, and the significant progress we've achieved to date, through this unique opportunity with Ulster Rugby. By wearing the special 'Planet Passionate' jerseys this Friday at Kingspan Stadium, the team proudly highlights our shared dedication to sustainability.”

Hugh McCaughey, Ulster Rugby CEO, added: “Ulster Rugby is delighted to team up with Kingspan to highlight its Planet Passionate initiative, which aligns perfectly with the values of teamwork and shared responsibility that underpin our sport. At Ulster Rugby, we are acutely aware of the impact we can have, not just on the field but in championing positive change off it. We have implemented many sustainability initiatives at Kingspan Stadium in recent years, such as a rainwater collection tank that has saved over 60 million litres of water in almost 10 years, a waste reduction programme where all recyclable material is extracted before any residue is used for refuse-derived fuels, and an extensive match day transport network to reduce the number of cars around the stadium, among others. We look forward to working with Kingspan and our wider rugby community to continue to build a more sustainable future.”
