Lep Courses Will Continue Growth Of Girls Schools' Rugby

The long-term future of Girls School Rugby has been given a boost recently as 30 teachers from Girls' Schools across the Province attended two Tag-Rugby coaching courses held at Parkhall Integrated College, Antrim and Portadown Rugby Club.

The teachers became the pupils and were taught the rules and regulations of Tag Rugby. They also designed and took part in small-sided games in order to give them the knowledge to be able to deliver sessions to girls at their respective schools.

Coaches from Ulster Rugby will work with the teachers throughout the next academic year, mentoring them until they are happy to deliver sessions unassisted.

Some of the teachers subsequently put their names forward for a contact-rugby coaching certificate. This is superb as Ulster Rugby are looking to develop a full-contact Girls' Schools Cup for next season.
