Lurgan Rugby Club launched Girls U15 rugby on Monday night with a training session at Pollock Park.

This new initiative has developed following coaching carried out in local schools by Ulster Rugby staff members Zoe Templeton and Marc Beggs, with assistance from Graeme Hunter, Lurgan RFC's Rugby Development Manager.

In attendance to help launch the new team were senior Ulster Women's player Lesley Megarity, Ulster U18 Girls Development player Molly Lavery and Ulster men's player Chris Henry.

The girls in attendance on Monday evening were drawn from St. Mary's High School and Lurgan Junior High School and coaching in these two schools will continue in the New Year. However, the club would welcome girls from any school, in Years 9, 10 and 11, who would be interested in playing rugby at U15 level.

Training will resume after the Christmas break at Pollock Park on Monday 6th January 2014 (7-8.30pm) with coaches Bill Walter and Jane Dawson. It is hoped the club can arrange matches against other clubs between January and April.
