Malone RFC have won the latest Ulster Carpets Youth Club of the Month award, in recognition for having the highest qualified coach to player ratio.
On collecting the award, the club's Youth Convenor, Trevor Henry commented:
"Coach development is an area we have put a lot of focus on, and it is fantastic to be recognised with this award. We have pushed new coaches involved from minis right through the youth teams to gain an IRFU qualification at the appropriate level. We see it as an important aspect for the club development and in the player pathway through youth to senior sides.
"We also have a number of senior players involved with our youth teams, in both the male and female sections, who have been put through Stage 2/3 coaching courses so we are always try to upskill our coaching personnel. On the male side we have three coaches at every age group along with a manager for each team to make sure the players get the best possible experience from the club.
"We have a full complement of male and female youth teams and we're continuing to grow. By having coaches qualified at the appropriate level will only improve the experience for our players and hopefully keep them involved in the game for as long as possible."
