Matty Rea led the team out onto the field, with the Ballymena man making his 100th Ulster appearance.
Ulster began the first quarter of the match on the front foot, and went close to scoring through Nick Timoney’s lunge towards the line.
A TMO check would confirm that Leinster's Joe McCarthy had done enough to stop him.
Unfortunately, despite his excellent performance, Cormac Izuchukwu, had to come off for an HIA. Greg Jones came on to replace him in the second row.
The home side showed their ruthlessness and why they were a kick away from becoming champions of Europe.
A break from Jamie Osbourne sent the centre clear, and he evaded a tackle to offload to Robbie Henshaw on his shoulder. The Ireland centre walking it in for an opening score of the contest. Ross Bryne added the conversion.
Minutes later, a high tackle from Will Addison in front of the posts gave Ross Byrne the chance to add another three points.
Leinster were looking dangerous when they got near the Ulster 22 and James Lowe got himself in on the act, with Byrne finding the Ireland wing in space. Lowe did well to finish despite a tackle from Harry Sheridan on the line. Byrne’s conversion added two points more.
Ulster pushed for a reply late on in the half with a series of lineouts in the home side's 22, however Leinster were able to see out the half with their 17-0 lead.
A frustrating scoreline for the performance, as Ulster had a lot of promising territory and possession in the home side's 22.
HT: Leinster 17-0 Ulster
Ulster came out firing after the restart. A John Cooney penalty just two minutes into the half got Ulster on the scoreboard.
The positive start was ruthlessly punished, as James Lowe showed a fantastic reaction to keep Ross Bryne's cross-field kick in play, after it looked like the kick would sail into touch. The winger expertly kicked the ball into the corner and finished well. Byrne added the conversion to his second try assist.
Ulster refused to give up, and got their rewards. A lineout on the Leinster 5m line was well executed, with Herring making the burst towards the line, John Cooney then picked the ball up from the ruck and went wide, finding McCann who was in space on the wing for a simple finish. Cooney's kick wasn't successful.
Ulster tried to get a quick second but struggled to break down Leinster's defence.
With Will Addison receiving treatment, Leinster made use of the man advantage, finding Jordan Larmour out wide on the wing for a finish in the corner.
Refusing to go quietly, replacement Stewart Moore, scored an excellent try after a slick chip and chase from Ethan McIlroy, who had replaced Jacob Stockdale. Cooney's conversion added another two points.
Leinster would go on to score their fifth try of the match, flanker Josh Van Der Flier, being found clear on the left wing to walk in a try for the home side.
Leinster soon after got their sixth, Ross Molony, stretching for a finish beside the posts to extend the home side's lead further.
Ulster had the last action of the match, showing great resolve to score a late try through Mike Lowry in the corner. A Stewart Moore 50:22 gave Ulster a lineout in the Leinster 22, and Nathan Doak's fantastic cross field kick found Lowry who pinned the ears back and sped into the corner for an excellent finish.
That ended the match and Ulster's season came to an end at the URC Quarter-Final stage.
