Despite tries from winger Harry Wells and full back James McMillan, Ulster U18 Boys Schools fell to a narrow defeat against a tough Munster outfit in the first weekend of Interpro competition.

Ulster started strong, with Wells and McMillan crossing the line in the first 15 minutes. However, Munster quickly responded with a try from Jack Hayes at the 20-minute mark, with Daniel Murphy adding the conversion. Just minutes later, Murphy scored his own try and converted, bringing Munster back into the game.

Ulster's Dylan Gray scored in the 27th minute to extend the lead, but Munster closed out the half with a well-worked try from their forwards, leaving the score 19-17 at halftime in Ulster's favour.

The second half began with Ulster reduced to 14 men after Harry Wells was sent to the sin bin. Munster capitalised, with Alex Moloney scoring in the 48th minute, followed by a conversion from Murphy.

However, Ulster's Charlie Reaney responded in the 50th minute, scoring from a maul, with McMillan converting.

Substitute George Gamble crossed over in the 54th minute, giving Ulster a three-point lead heading into the final 15 minutes. But a late try from the Munster forwards secured them the win with a final score of 33-29.
