Methody crowned Danske Bank 2nd XV Cup champions

Methodist College defeated old rivals Royal Belfast Academical Institution 8-0 in the final of the Danske Bank Ulster Schools' 2nd XV Cup at Shaw's Bridge on Thursday.

Methody played into the wind in the first and a smart gameplan allowed them to go into the interval on level terms, 0-0.

Winger Rory Cairns scored shortly after the break following some slick handling by the inside backs to put Methody 5-0 up. Impressive 5th form outhalf Gareth Miller was unable to convert but he landed a pernalty shortly after to extend the lead.

RBAI tried to use their powerful forwards to work their way back into the game but resolute defence from Methody ensured they added to the silverware already won by the 1st XV.
