Mixed fortunes for Ulster U18 Girls 7s

Ulster U18 girls had a day of mixed fortunes at the 7s interprovincial development tournament at Westmanstown on Saturday with one win, one loss and one draw.

Leinster proved to be too strong for all the other Provinces and had a clean sweep of wins. An Ulster win against Connacht set up the last game of the day against Munster as a decider for second and third place. The score finished 10-10.

Overall the day was deemed to have been a successful one for Ulster. After a nervous start they showed continual improvement as the day progressed. There were some excellent individual performances and there is real talent within the squad.

As expected, a lack of familiarity with the 7s style of play was evident at times but if the girls take the learning from the day into their upcoming training sessions and the next tournament in three week’s time there is absolutely no reason why they can't be contenders for the top spot.
