Newgorge Taggers Host Disability Rugby Blitz

On Sunday 19th October the second disability tag festival of the season was hosted by Newforge Taggers at Newforge Country Club, Belfast.

The monthly blitzes have proven to be very popular with five special needs sections in Ulster joining the Taggers for a morning of tag rugby (Coleraine Chargers, Stevenson Sharks, Ballymena Bears, Seaside Sharkies, Portadown Panthers and Clare Hares).

Commenting after the blitz, Sam McBurney from Newforge Taggers said: "It's great to see so many clubs at Newforge this morning. The blitzes provide a perfect platform for the players from all of the clubs to enjoy their rugby and renew friendships. It has been a great morning’s craic.”

The Coleraine Chargers will host the blitz in November prior to the clubs taking a break over the Christmas period.

The growth of disability tag rugby in recent years has been made possible due to the generous support of the NI Executive and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure through the 'Promoting Equality, Tackling Poverty and Social Exclusion through Sport' programme.
