Portadown Rugby Club, in conjunction with Irwin's Bakery, is launching the 2014 Nutty Krust U19 Tournament on Wednesday 8th January at Chambers Park. Ulster Branch President, John Robinson, will be in attendance to make the draw for the first series of games. Invitations seeking entries for the tournament have been sent to all the clubs in Ulster and further afield. It is hoped there will be a quick response to the invitation to participate in this prestigious U19 Tournament, a tournament that is the envy of the club age grade structures in other Provinces. Irwin's Bakery and the Nutty Krust brand has been involved in sponsorship of rugby tournaments in Portadown for the past 35 seasons. The emphasis in recent seasons has been on age grade rugby in the Province with players such as Ulster, Ireland and British and Irish Lions player Stephen Ferris having participated in the competition. The aim is to attract sixteen teams into the competition with the games scheduled to start on Wednesday 29th January culminating with the final on Wednesday 30th April. Post-match refreshments will be provided after each game with a 'Man of the Match' Award presented at the post-match reception. Clubs are advised to follow the information sent out by tournament organiser, Willie Gribben, and return their entry forms as soon as possible. Through the good offices of Allen Clarke, the Ulster Academy was represented at each of the games last season with staff designated to attend each game. It is hoped the tournament will receive similar support at the 2014 games.
