A sizeable and very enthusiastic crowd had gathered to watch this entertaining, hard fought Nutty Krust game, which the Dungannon FC U18 team won by 42-0 and which featured quite a few talented players on both teams.
This result means that the Dungannon FC U18 team has qualified for the Nutty Krust final scheduled to be played on Wednesday 1st April.
The game was well refereed by Richard Willis from the USRFR. The Nutty Krust organising committee is grateful to the USRFR for ensuring all the Nutty Krust games are refereed by members of the USRFR.
Despite the big defensive shift put in by the Rainey RFC U18 players such as Ollie Morris, Pearce McKenna, Aaron Buck and Matthew Sufferin , there was little that the Rainey U18 team could do against the constant wave of Dungannon U18 attacks to prevent the six tries scored by the Dungannon team.
Andrew Lyttle and Austin McAreavy each scored a brace of tries for the Dungannon FC U18 team with Blake Redmond and Jake Moore touching down for one try apiece.
James Gibson had a great game off the tee with all six successful conversion kicks.
As usual with the Nutty Krust Tournament, the players all received a post-match meal which was sponsored by Hewitt Meats, prepared by the staff in “Flat Dogs Gourmet Food” Restaurant, and organised by Matthew Wickham in serving the food. All the players, as well as their coaches, received a Nutty Krust loaf on departure.
Richard Jackson, a member of the Nutty Krust Committee, presented the Nutty Krust “Man of the Match Award” at the post-match ceremony. The Man of the Match Award went to Jake Moore, the Dungannon FC U18 Loose Head Prop.
The sixth, and last, of this season’s Nutty Krust Tournament group stage games will be played on Monday 16th March at Chambers Park when the City of Armagh FC U18 team will play the Portadown/Lurgan RFC U18 team at 7-45pm in the third of the Group A games.
All visitors and supporters to the game will be made to feel very welcome and are invited to use the Portadown RFC facilities before and after the game.
