Ophir held a leaver’s tournament on Wednesday, with the aim of encouraging school leavers to join the club. Teams invited were both Fresher teams from UUJ and Queens along with school teams from Belfast Royal Academy and Downshire.
The tournament was a great success, with players making the day enjoyable despite the weather and some excellent rugby was played. The feedback from the players and coaches reflected the benefit of getting involved in more of these kind of tournaments, as it gives players a chance to see what clubs are available and have the opportunity to continue their rugby career after school.
