Ulster Rugby Community Rugby Coach Neill Alcorn and Active Communities Coach David Chambers have been running taster rugby sessions for an over 60s group up at Lough Moss Leisure Centre over the past few weeks.
The sessions were initiated to provide activities for a generation that has little in the way of provision in terms of sport. Many participants enjoyed an introduction to the sport, while for some it was a re-introduction following many years away from the sport. The feedback from those involved was extremely positive and this has led to plans to run a similar programme in February.
The intention is also to spread the initiate to other areas in the coming months.
This project has been made possible due to the generous support of the NI Executive and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure through the 'Promoting Equality, Tackling Poverty and Social Exclusion through Sport' programme.
