Portadown remain in hunt for promotion

Portadown kept their hopes of promotion to the Ulster Bank League alive with a resounding 10-29 win over Monivea in the round robin qualifying league on Saturday.

Having lost to Tullamore in the first game, Portadown responded in the best possible way with tries scored by Diarmaid O'Kane (2), Gareth McCoy and Marc Beggs securing a bonus point win. Chris Cousens added nine points with the boot.

Tullamore regsieterd a win over Richmond and look likely to secure the automatic promotion spot. Portadown will now host Richmond on Saturday, with the winner earning a play-off against the second from bottom side in Ulster Bank League Division 2B.
