Alan O’Connor will lead the Ulster men out for their first game of 2022 against Munster in Round 10 of the United Rugby Championship. (Thomond Park, 7.35pm kick-off).
Ulster currently sit third in the URC table on 25 points, with Edinburgh on 28 and Leinster leading the way on 29. The top three teams have all played seven games each.
The Ulster men have won five of their opening seven games, with the only defeats coming away from home at Ospreys and Connacht (Aviva Stadium).
Munster are currently in seventh place on 20 points, albeit with a game in hand.
Ulster haven't played in the URC since the loss to Ospreys on 4 December, while Munster's last outing was the New Year's Day defeat at Connacht.
The home side has won the last six encounters between these teams, but the Ulster men haven't won at Thomond Park since May 2014.
Ulster last faced Munster a year ago this week at Kingspan Stadium, with the home side emerging 15-10 winners.
Matt Faddes and Ethan McIlroy scored tries for Ulster with John Cooney adding five points off the tee to give his side a 15-3 half-time lead.
Munster could only manage a late Darren Sweetnam try, as Ulster held on for the win.
After this weekend, the focus returns to the Heineken Champions Cup. Ulster travel to Northampton on Saturday 16 January, before hosting Clermont in the potentially crucial final pool stage game on Saturday 22 January (5.30pm, Kingspan Stadium).
