On Friday 15th November, Portadown RFC played host to a Year 8 rugby tournament which gave schoolboys their first taste of competitive rugby.

The tournament was organised by Portadown's Club Community Rugby Officer, Philip Lunn, and saw teams from St. Paul's Junior High School, Tandragee Junior High School and Lismore Comprehensive School take part. Ulster Rugby's Community Rugby Coach Marc Beggs also attended on the day to referee games and pass on some coaching advice.

All of the participants had started rugby in September and have progressed rapidly, displaying some great running and passing, as well as impressive tackling.

Everyone involved had a great day and are looking forward to their next rugby challenge.
