Scrum Workshop Held At Newry Rfc

Ulster Rugby's Coach Development Officer, Brian O'Shaughnessy, recently hosted a 'Scrum Workshop' at Newry RFC.

This was a follow up to a previous workshop Brian had hosted at Dromore RFC at the start of the season. The guest tutors on this occasion were Ulster Rugby's Elite Performance Development Manager, Allen Clarke, and Age Grade Manager Michael Black. Both coaches work on a daily basis with the Ulster Senior and Academy squads.

Throughout the workshop both Allen and Michael worked closely with the Newry RFC senior forwards, while a number of coaches looked on. The players learned a great deal on the fine art of what makes a successful scrum. The additional club and school coaches who attended the workshop were able to learn a great deal from Allen and Michael as well.

Commenting on the evening Brian said: “It was great to see so many players and coaches attend the workshop. It was a win-win situation for everyone involved. I would like to thank both Allen and Michael for their time and effort and also everyone at Newry RFC for the kind use of their facilities, particularly head coach, Graeme Eastwood.”
