Grey skies and rain certainly wasn't enough to get anyone down on Sunday 17th November when the Ballymena Bears hosted four other teams at a disability rugby blitz.

The Bears, Portadown Panthers, Seaside Sharkies, Killard Cougars and Taggers all took part in what was the biggest display of domestic special needs tag rugby to date.

The five teams met up at 10am at Eaton Park and after a quick warm up, games for both under and over 12s kicked off. Amongst the spectators was everyone's favourite bear; Ulster Rugby mascot Sparky, who was in demand all morning for photographs.

After the fun of playing, it was into the clubhouse for hotdogs provided by Montgomery's cafe and crisps from Tayto. Great fun and new friendships formed and there is definitely only blue skies ahead for special needs rugby in Ulster.
