Ahead of the 2019 Rugby World Cup, Ulster mascot Sparky, alongside club participants, are participating in a joint challenge to walk the distance from Kingspan Stadium, Belfast, to the Nissan Stadium, Yokohama, Japan, which is 5,880 miles, or approximately 12 million steps.
In preparation for this spectacular walking challenge, Sparky can been seen prancing about wearing his pedometer. During last weekend’s game against Edinburgh, we challenged you to guess how many steps Sparky walked during the match and can now reveal that he took 10, 219 steps.
Congratulations go to our competition winner: Andy Rush who entered via Facebook and was closest with a guess of 10, 234 steps. Andy will receive 2 tickets to the Ulster v Glasgow game on Friday 2nd March where he can cheer on the Ulstermen as they continue to challenge for the PRO14 play-offs.
The 'Walk to the Rugby World Cup' programme is funded by the Public Health Agency and is in line with Ulster Rugby's Health and Wellbeing Strategy 'Rugby at the Heart of the Community'.
