Priority will be given to small, locally-based groups or organisations in areas of disadvantage that have a clear understanding of the needs of their community and are undertaking actions as a means of addressing these needs.
The funder wants to support organisations undertaking work that helps people of all ages feel more included in their community, builds their skills and increases their sense of achievement.
Within this context, this year's priority themes are as follows:
- Building skills and improving access to employment
- Disadvantaged groups and less well supported causes
- Healthy lifestyles
- Promoting community cohesion
- Reducing isolation
- Substance misuse
- Vulnerable people
Who Can Apply?
Applicants should:
- be working in disadvantaged or deprived areas
- be small local groups with an income of less than £100,000 run by local people
Examples of the type of activities that may be funded:
- Equipment and material for sports groups
- Community festivals
- Cross generational work
- Sports tournaments/competition costs
- Lunch clubs
- Committee and volunteer/staff training
- Hire of sports facilities
Exclusions:
- Grants cannot be awarded:
- To individuals
- To fund trips abroad
- To fund buses, mini buses or other community transport schemes (not including transport costs forming part of a project)
- To fund building costs, including access adaptations to buildings
- Previous grant recipients who have not submitted the required monitoring paperwork
