Strong Ulster A side named for Bedford test

Alex Codling has made eight changes for Ulster A's British & Irish Cup game against Bedford Blues on Saturday (Goldington Road, 2.30pm).

Four of those changes come in the backline, with Dave Shanahan, Luke Marshall, Sammy Arnold and Rory Scholes all involved despite missing last weekend’s 30-5 win over Bristol. Hughes Insurance Academy players Johnny McPhillips (fullback) and Robert Little (left wing) keep their places, as does Sam Windsor (pictured above), who will direct proceedings from flyhalf.

Willie Faloon retains the captaincy and will continue to operate at openside flanker. Sean Reidy is a newcomer to the team at number eight, while Clive Ross completes the back row. Lewis Stevenson joins Pete Browne in the second row, with Andy Warwick and Jonny Simpson coming into the front row alongside hooker John Andrew.

Johnny Murphy, Ruaidhri Murphy and Bronson Ross will provide front row back up, with Alan O’Connor and Stephen Mulholland covering the other forward positions. Paul Rowley and Ballymena RFC centre Callum Patterson are the backline replacements.
