Support For Rugby Coaches In Schools

With Ulster Rugby committed to growing the game, it is evident that opportunities will arise within schools for those with an interest in coaching.

In order to ensure that there are sufficiently qualified teachers in schools to support this growth, it is Ulster Rugby’s intention to introduce a programme to support recently qualified and prospective teachers committed to the promotion of rugby and coaching within schools.

In order to ascertain the level of interest in such a programme it is initially our aim to create a database of recently qualified teachers (who are not in full-time employment), student teachers and undergraduates planning on applying for the PGCE course who have or would be interested in obtaining rugby coaching qualifications and experience of coaching rugby in schools.

This database would be made available to schools seeking appropriately qualified personnel and would hopefully benefit both the qualified/student teachers and the schools.

If you are interested in an opportunity to train as a rugby coach and broaden your experience in preparation for applying for possible positions in schools, please complete a registration form and return to Alistair Brown, Coach Development Manager, IRFU (Ulster Branch) - alistair.brown@ulsterrugby.com.
