Tommy Bowe selected in British and Irish Lions squad to tour Australia

Ulster and Ireland winger, Tommy Bowe, has been selected in the British and Irish Lions squad to tour Australia.

It will be Bowe’s second Lions adventure after he toured South Africa four years ago and played in all three tests.

Bowe is the only Ulster player selected and was named along with eight other Ireland internationals – Brian O’Driscoll, Conor Murray, Rob Kearney, Jamie Heaslip, Sean O’Brien, Cian Healy, Paul O’Connell and Jonathan Sexton.

Bowe’s selection follows a season that has been blighted by injury but he has shown enough in his past three matches for Ulster to be included.

Commenting on being selected for the British and Irish Lions, Bowe said:
‘It has been a fairly nerve-racking couple of weeks for me and last night was a pretty sleepless night. I am delighted to be picked and it will be an exciting end to the season for me.

‘Every rugby player wants to represent their country but touring with the Lions is an amazing experience. I played in all three tests four years ago and hopefully, this time we can go out there and win the series.’
