U18 Girls Interprovincial Tournament Round 1

The Ulster U18 Girls 7s squad were in action last weekend in the first of two Interprovincial tournaments.

It was the first time in an Ulster jersey for the majority of the squad but they performed well, recording a win over Connacht, were unfortunate not to pip Munster, but found Leinster too strong.

With a mixture of experience and newcomers to this this level, coach Ross Finlay felt that it was a baptism of fire for some but was very impressed with the character shown and believes the learning will stand them in good stead for this weekend and into next season with ten of the girls eligible again next year.

This weekend the squad travel to Westmanstown in Dublin for the second tournament. They will be without Katie Hetherington, Kelly McCormill, Lucinda Kinghan, Ollie Andrews and Toni Macartney who will be attending the Ireland U18 squad training camp hoping for selection for the Rugby Europe Olympic Qualifier in Vichy, France on the last weekend in April.

We wish all the girls the best of luck!
