Ulster players nominated for Rugby Players Ireland Awards

Tom Stewart, Sadhbh McGrath and Neve Jones are shortlisted for this year's RPI Awards for their performances during the 2022/23 season.

Set to be hosted by former players Andrew Trimble and Barry Murphy, the Rugby Players Ireland Awards celebrates the on and off the field achievements of Rugby Players Ireland’s members and will take place on 17 May at The Clayton Hotel on the Burlington Road in Ballsbridge.

Congratulations go to Ulster's 22-year-old hooker, Tom Stewart, who has had an outstanding season for his province. After breaking into the Senior Men's team early in the season, Tom went on to break the URC try-scoring record, with his total of 16 tries earning him the OFX Top Try Scorer 22/23 Award and URC Next-Gen Player Award in the process.

Tom has been nominated alongside Leinster's Ireland international hooker, Dan Sheehan, and Munster's Jack Crowley for the Nevin Spence Men’s Young Player of the Year award.

Ulster's Sadhbh McGrath, and Neve Jones who came through the Player Pathway in Ulster, have been nominated across two award categories.

Young Ulster prop Sadhbh McGrath has been shortlisted for the izest Marketing Women’s XVs Young Player of the Year following her performance in this year's TikTok Women's Six Nations.

The 18 year old prop was called into the squad as an uncapped player and made her first cap by starting in the opening match against Wales. She appeared in every match of the competition and has no doubt gained vital experience at a young age.

Our congratulations also go to Neve Jones, who came through the Ulster Player Pathway, as she is nominated for the Bank of Ireland’s Women’s XVs Players’ Player of the Year award following her efforts in a green shirt.

The Ballymena- born hooker led the way with tackling in the Championship, as she made topped the charts with 90 successful tackles during the competition.
