Whilst the domestic rugby season finished a few weeks ago, there is still plenty of rugby happening in other parts of the world. The Rugby Europe Trophy is in full swing and the USRFR is well represented this weekend.
Jonny Erskine travels to Panevezys in Lithuania to referee the International match between Lithuania and Holland. He will be well supported on the lines by Chris Busby and Peter Martin. We wish the lads well and congratulate Jonny on his first International appointment as a referee.
There is also some rugby action closer to home as the Wooden Spoon Charity are holding a tag rugby festival for young people with a learning disability at Ballyclare RFC on Saturday.
Referees for this tournament are:
Matthew Wickham, Bill Halliday, Shane Toolan, Chris Gregg, Billy Allen, Nathan Lamont, Clive Gardiner and Scott McKnight.
Please feel free to pop along to this event and please let Jill know ASAP if you are available to referee.
There is also a 10 a side tournament being held at Ballymena RFC. Referees are:
Tim McLennan, Robbie McGreer, Michael Pollock and Stuart Douglas (pictured above). We are all delighted to see Stuart return to refereeing after recovering from a serious knee injury.
Well done to all referees who are representing our Society this weekend.
Just a reminder that pre-season training for our members will start on Monday 24th June at Queens University playing fields at 7pm. Further details will be sent via email and will appear on our Facebook page very soon.
