Ulster Rugby Coach Presents To Serc Students

Ulster Rugby Fitness Development Coach, Neal Johnston, recently visited SERC's Bangor campus to speak with students undertaking the Sport, Exercise and Leisure course at BTEC and Foundation Degree level.

Johnston delivered a presentation on the topic of Fundamental Movement Skills.  The students were then split into groups and tasked with developing games and activities they could use when coaching a group of children. The Ulster Rugby coach then put the students through a sample session including ideas for warm ups, games and races that the students could use in their own various coaching backgrounds.

Further sessions focusing on other fitness-related topics have already been agreed between the two organisations.

This event was made possible due to the generous support of the NI Executive and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure through the 'Promoting Equality, Tackling Poverty and Social Exclusion through Sport' programme.
