The presentation of jerseys at Kingspan Stadium to the Ulster Rugby Senior Women’s squad marked a significant event, bringing together players, coaches, and special guests to recognise and celebrate the achievements of the Winter 2022 and Summer 2023 campaigns.
Hosted by Mollie Davies, the newly appointed Women & Girls Rugby Development Manager, the event featured two esteemed guests, Paula Stewart, Chair of the Ulster Women and Girls’ Committee, and Ashleigh Baxter, former Ireland Women's 7s, XVs international, and former Ulster player.
The ceremony commenced with the presentation of jerseys for the 2022-2023 Interprovincial Championships, acknowledging the dedication and effort of players, clubs, and coaches. A heartfelt congratulations echoed through the room, thanking everyone for their commitment to representing Ulster on the field.
Moving on to the 2023-2024 Interprovincial Championships, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement as the attendees celebrated breaking a winless streak dating back to December 2012. Finishing third in the series and clinching a 36-14 victory against Connacht, the players, clubs, and coaches were applauded for their triumphant efforts.
Expressing gratitude for their role in the successful championship conclusion, the organisers emphasised their anticipation for the future endeavours of the talented group of players, eagerly looking forward to witnessing the heights this team could reach.
As the jersey celebrations came to a close, special thanks were extended to Paula Stewart and Ashleigh Baxter for their time and efforts in presenting the jerseys. The event concluded with a communal lunch offering tea, coffee, and sweet treats, fostering a sense of camaraderie and celebration among the Ulster Rugby community.
