Ulster Rugby to take part in Belfast Pride Parade

Ulster Rugby is set to be involved in the Belfast Pride Parade for the first time (Saturday 3rd August). We are working hard to promote equality and inclusiveness in rugby, and our presence will reinforce that Ulster Rugby is a safe space for all players and volunteers in the LGBTQ+ community. ABOUT BELFAST PRIDE FESTIVAL The Pride Parade is part of Belfast Pride Festival, one of the biggest festivals in Belfast. It includes over 100 events across 10 days in celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. The Official Belfast Pride Launch and Awards is happening at Belfast City Hall today (Friday 26th July). For more information, please visit www.belfastpride.com. THE BELFAST PRIDE PARADE The Belfast Pride Parade is the biggest cross community parade in the city and is the main event in the LGBTQ calendar. Last year's parade attracted 55,000 people. With backing from BBC NI, the PSNI and UTV as well as more than 100 other organisations, the parade for this year's Belfast Pride is set to be the biggest yet. PARADE DETAILS The parade sets off at 1.00pm on Saturday 3rd August and the meeting time is no later than 11.45am. Like last year, the route will start and finish at Custom House Square. Marchers will head down High Street, making a loop through the city centre along North Street, Royal Avenue, Donegall Place, Chichester Street and back up Victoria Street towards the Albert Clock. We are asking for representatives from our affiliated clubs to join us in the parade. People taking part in the parade do not need to be LGBTQ+ and we would encourage LGBTQ+ allies to lend their support by joining in. Please note that numbers are limited and will be on a first come, first served basis. If you are interested in participating in Ulster Rugby’s first ever Pride Parade, please contact Nicci Wilson (Nicci.Wilson@ulsterrugby.com) by 5pm on Monday 29th July.
