Congratulations to Enniskillen Collegiate, Kilkeel High School, Magh Ene College and Monaghan Collegiate on their performances at the All Ireland Gx7s at the Aviva Stadium on Wednesday.
Both Enniskillen and Monaghan topped their groups and went on to face each other in the semi-finals. Enniskillen came out on top and went on to face Sacred Heart in the Cup Final whilst Monaghan progressed to the Plate Final against Rockwell. Both Finals ended in a draw at the end of normal time and went to Golden Try extra time. Enniskillen were left devastated when Sacred Heart touched down at the end of the two-minute extended period. Meanwhile neither Monaghan or Rockwell secured an extra time score which resulted in Monaghan being awarded the Trophy as they had scored the first try.
16 schools in total from all four provinces took part in an excellent event, under the watchful eye of several Ireland internationals including captains Lucy Mulhall and Niamh Briggs, Player Of The Year Sophie Spence and 7s stars Louise Galvin and Audrey O'Flynn - the action was fast and furious throughout the day despite the weather.
The other Ulster teams who took part were Magh Ene College, Bundoran and Kilkeel High School, Co.Down.
Congratulations and thanks to all the players, coaches and volunteers who made the day possible. It really was a fantastic event to be involved in and was so encouraging to see two Ulster Schools represented in the Finals.
