The Ulster U18 Clubs side, sponsored by Hughes Insurance, drew their summer programme to a close on Saturday with a team building day on the North Coast.

The squad have just completed an intense eight week programme which saw them training three times a week at Queen's University Belfast's fabulous facilities on the Upper Malone Road, Belfast. The sessions incorporated pitch sessions, gym sessions, video analysis and educational modules.

Late on the Friday night there was a last minute change to the programme, as due to the weather, coasteering had to be cancelled so the morning part of the session was swiftly moved to White Rocks strand in Portrush. The squad enjoyed some modified rugby games on the beach before a football match.

One interested spectator at this stage was Ulster & Ireland international Stephen Ferris who stopped to talk with the squad and pass on some tips. The management would like to thank Stephen for giving up his time and allowing the players an insight into how he came through the clubs pathway.

The morning session drew to a close with some sprints up and down the sand dunes in small teams before the squad all aided their recovery with a dip in the sea.

The afternoon saw some down time at Ballymoney RFC before a 90 minute pitch session. Following the session players, parents and management enjoyed a BBQ before departing their separate ways.

The management team would like to thank Ballymoney RFC for their hospitality and the use of their facilities. They would also like to thank the parents for not only helping with the cooking of the BBQ but also for the numerous miles they have clocked up transporting the players to training sessions and matches.

The squad now looks forward to building towards their three inter-provincial games, with two of these games at home the squad and management would appreciate all the support possible.
