Ulster v Clermont: Statistical Preview

Here are some key stats ahead of Ulster's Champions Cup clash with ASM Clermont Auvergne on Saturday (Kingspan Stadium, 1.00pm).

* This will be the third fixture between the clubs after they met in the pool stage in 2011/12. Both matches were won by the home side.

* Ulster have won seven of their last eight home games against Top 14 opposition, their only defeat in that run coming in Round 2 in 2014 against RC Toulon.

* Ulster have won five of their last six home games in the Champions Cup, including each of the last three. The last time they won more consecutive home fixtures was in 2013/14 when they had four straight wins at Kingspan Stadium.

* Clermont have a maximum 10 points to date this season, and the last time they opened a Champions Cup campaign with more consecutive wins was in 2012/13 when they remained undefeated until the final.

* Clermont have won their last five games against Irish provinces, three against Munster and two against Leinster.

* Clermont have won 11 of their last 15 games away from home, only once losing by more than eight points in that time.

* Ulster have yet to lose a lineout on their own throw and are the only team to boast a 100% lineout success rate.

* Wesley Fofana has beaten 15 defenders to date, the joint most of any player alongside Leinster's Joey Carbery and Connacht's Cian Kelleher.

* Charles Piutau beat nine defenders from 12 carries in Round 2 against Exeter Chiefs – only four players have beaten more defenders than Piutau despite the fact that he has made one appearance this season.
