Volunteer opportunities: Resource Managers and U17 Schools Squad Manager

Ulster Rugby is seeking applications for volunteer Resource Managers (two positions), plus an U17 Schools Squad Manager. Main role – Resource Managers (x2) This is an opportunity for volunteers to become involved at the start of the representative player development pathway in Ulster. The Volunteer Resource Manager will provide support to the players and coaching saff by ensuring that Kit/resource requirements are met at all times for training, matches and tournaments/festivals for the Ulster U19/U18/U17 Age Grade Squads to the Academy Team. Key tasks
  • It is hoped that you will attend pre-season, training sessions and matches as requested, supplying and laying out all of the equipment needed by the Coaches and ensuring that everything is cleared away at the end of each session.
  • Provide pitch-side support, managing equipment issues as they arise.
  • Ensure that all equipment is in good order and will be responsible for reporting on any lost or damaged equipment.
  • Liaise with the Lead Strength and Conditioning Coach to ensure that the necessary hydration and dietary provision is available at all sessions, as requested.
  • Consult with the Head of Rugby Operations Recruitment or Provincial Talent Coach regarding the budget available for equipment.

Main role – U17 Schools Squad Manager This is an opportunity for volunteers to become involved at the start of the Representative Player Development Pathway in Ulster. The Volunteer Squad Manager will provide support to the players and coaching team to create a positive environment which helps to improve the overall performance of School rugby players in Ulster. This is an ideal opportunity for someone wanting to get into representative rugby management for the first time. Key tasks
  • Administration of squad activities including:
  • ensuring player profile forms are completed, stored safely and shared as appropriate with the coaching team developing and maintaining a database of contact details
  • collating pertinent medical information
  • updating records on injury status
  • Attend training sessions and maintain a record of player attendance.
  • Send out correspondence to players, parents and schools as needed.
  • Work closely with the Head/Lead Coaches and liaise with other Squad Managers as needed.
  • Liaise with relevant IRFU (Ulster Branch)/Ulster Rugby staff including Michael Black and Kieran Campbell (NTS & Academy Managers).
