Windsor returns to captain Ulster A

The Ulster A team, sponsored by CD Group, has been named for the Province's clash against Leinster A at Ballynahinch RFC on Thursday afternoon (kick off 5.00pm).

Sam Windsor, who has not played since picking up an injury in the pre-season fixture against Edinburgh, will return to action and will captain the side from flyhalf.

Rodger McBurney (fullback), Callum Patterson (centre) and Matthew Rea (lock) have benefited from Ballymena’s fine start to the season, after being named in the starting XV by Head Coach, Alex Codling.

Windsor will be partnered at half back by scrumhalf Paul Rowley, with Mark Best linking up with Patterson in midfield. McBurney is joined in the back three by Rory Scholes and former Ireland U20 winger, David Busby.

Experienced tighthead prop, Bronson Ross, will start in the front row alongside development players Johnny Murphy (hooker) and Kyle McCall (loosehead prop). Rea is partnered in the second row by Hughes Insurance Academy prospect, Alex Thompson, while Clive Ross, Conor Joyce and Stephen Mulholland make up the loose forward trio.

Codling has plenty of options on the bench, with Adam McBurney, Ruaidhri Murphy, Craig Trenier, Connor Smyth, Lorcan Dow and Frankie Taggart providing cover for the forwards. The backline reserves include Academy half backs Connor Young and Johnny McPhillips, as well as Kieran Joyce, Alex Kane and Robert Lyttle.

The match is free to attend and all support will be greatly welcomed by the squad.
