Youth Finals Round-Up

A full programme of Youth Rugby Finals took place on Saturday 14th April at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena, Cookstown.

Ulster Carpets U14 Shield Final:
Cavan 43 Lisburn 7

In the first final of the day, contested between Cavan and Lisburn, Cavan dominated the first half, putting up a majority of their points, before Lisburn mounted a second half comeback.

Whilst the second half of the game was dominated by Lisburn, the Cavan boys were able to soak up the pressure and defend their lead to hold on for the win.

Ulster Carpets U14 Bowl Final:
Omagh 19 Malone 17

The U14 Bowl Final was a tight affair with just two points eventually separating the two well matched teams.

Ulster Carpets U16 Shield Final:
Cavan 34 Cooke 7

Cavan also won the U16 Shield Final for their second piece of silverware on the day.

Full credit to Cooke, who were competing in just their second season back in youth rugby, however, they came up against a very well drilled and competent Cavan side.

Ulster Carpets U16 Bowl Final:
Monaghan 51 Newry 5

A brave performance from Newry, but Monaghan proved the stronger side and were able to keep the scoreboard moving to push on for a comfortable win.

Ulster Carpets U18 Shield Final:
Dungannon 15 Limavady 7

The closing game of the day proved to be a keenly contested one. Dungannon seemed to be in control, but Limavady challenged right to the end.
