Munster were in an unforgiving mood on Saturday as they put Ulster to the sword in emphatic style at Virgin Media Park.

Ulster put up a brave fight in the opening exchanges, but once Munster got into the groove, there was no stopping the reigning Vodafone Woman’s Interprovincial Champions, as Matt brown’s side made it two wins from two in this year’s competition.

Munster took the lead in the 9^th minute when winger Chisom Ugwueru used both power and pace to break down the left and finish empathically to open her team's account.

Enya Breen landed a successful conversion, but four minutes later she was off target when she hit the upright after Clodagh O’Halloran’s try put Munster 12-0 to the good.

O’Halloran was on hand to apply the finishing touches after a Munster maul was stopped short just short of the Ulster line.

The Munster pack was instrumental in their next try; taking a scrum against the head, the home side made a charge for the Ulster line where eventually Beth Buttimer grabbed the all-important grounding.

Breen made no mistake with the conversion and after 22 minutes Munster led 19-0.

Despite their healthy lead, Munster showed no signs of letting their foot off the gas and on the half-hour mark, Buttimer was in for her second try of the afternoon. Again, the hooker was on hand to finish off from close range after some strong approach play from the Munster pack.

There was more to come from Munster, when in the final play of the half, flanker O’Halloran crashed over for her second, and her side’s fifth try of the half.

Strong running from Alana McInerney and Emily Lane allowed O’Halloran to finish off another Munster try. Despite the setback of Breen’s missed conversion, the home side still enjoyed a handsome lead at the break.

Munster wasted no time in adding to their total when four minutes after the restart, winger Katie Corrigan got over in the right corner after taking a pass from number eight Grace Moore.

Ulster thought they were going to get in for a try of their own, but a last ditch tap tackle from Aoife Corey denied Ciara Fitzsimons what looked like a certain try for the visitors.

It was a phase of play that summed up Ulster’s day, as in the next 10 minutes Munster added further tries through Lane, Corey and McInerney.

Half-time fly-half replacement, Caitríona Finn converted all three tries to make the score 57-0 in Munster's favour.

Ulster refused to throw-in the towel, and quick thinking from Abbey Moyles almost caught the home defence off guard.

Moyles cross-field kick to Fitzsimons on Ulster’s left wing was inch perfect, but before the Queens winger could get up a head of steam, Abbie Salter-Townshend was there to save the day for Munster and bundle Fitzsimons into touch.

Ulster were to suffer further blows with both Fitzsimons and captain India Daley were both forced off through injury, before the final word of the day was left to Munster’s Andrea Murphy who ran in her side’s 10^th try of the day with the final play of the game.

A disappointing day for Murray Houston and his team, but attention now quickly turns to next Saturday’s clash with Leinster at Affidea Stadium.
