A round-up of the latest Danske Bank Schools’ rugby action, by Ulster Schools’ PRO Barney McGonigle:

Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ Medallion Shield

In the third round of the Medallion Shield, Banbridge Academy played Down High School and won the game, 19-5.

Belfast Royal Academy played Coleraine Grammar School in a game Coleraine won, 33-3.

Enniskillen Royal Grammar School played Royal School Dungannon and recorded an 8-5 victory.

Limavady Grammar School played Ballyclare High School in a game Ballyclare High won, 29-0.

Rainey Endowed School played Bangor Grammar School and won the game, 27-5.

Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 2XV Competitions

On Tuesday 9 December, Enniskillen Royal Grammar School was scheduled to have hosted Wallace High School in the third Round of the 2XV Cup. Unfortunately, that game fell victim to the impact of Storm Bram.

On Wednesday 10 December, several 2XV Cup games took place.

In the second round of the Cup, Coleraine Grammar School played Bangor Grammar School in their previously postponed game.

Coleraine GS won this game, 27-5.

In the third round, Ballymena Academy played Sullivan Upper School and won the game, 40-0.

In the first round of the 2XV Trophy, Portadown College defeated Larne Grammar School by 31-10.

On Thursday 11 December, Friends’ School Lisburn played RBAI in the third round of the 2XV Cup.

RBAI 2XV was made to work hard for their deserved 26-7 victory.

Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ 3XV Cup

In the second round of the 3XV Cup, Ballyclare High School 3XV played Foyle College 3XV and won the game, 40-0.

Ballymena Academy 3XV played Wallace High School 3XV and won the high scoring game, 38-26.

Regent House School 3XV played RBAI 3XV in a game RBAI won, 40-0.

Omagh Academy 3XV played Campbell College 4XV in a game, Campbell College 4XV won, 34-14.

On Saturday 13 December, in the second round of the 3XV Cup, Royal School Armagh 3XV hosted Enniskillen Royal Grammar School 3XV and won the game, 31-0.

Ulster Age-Grade

On Tuesday evening, two age-grade games took place at the Affidea Stadium. Ulster U17 Clubs and the Ulster U17 Schools played New South Wales Raptors.

The Ulster U17 Clubs won their game, 31-17, and the Ulster U17 Schools won their game, 35-5.

The Ulster Clubs points came through a try from Tom Little (Civil Service), a penalty try, two tries from Josh Morrow (Finn Valley), and Zach Horrow-Barrett (Civil Service).

Drew Wilson (Civil Service) was successful with two of his conversion kicks.

Xavier Mann, Kaelan Steele and Aidan Gould scored the NSW Raptors tries to which Dane Wilson added one successful conversion kick.

The Ulster Schools team scored five tries during their game.

Team captain, Isaac Crawford (Omagh Academy), touched down for a brace with Dawson Knox (Banbridge Academy), Evan Stewart (RBAI) and Senna McNulty (Rainey Endowed School), touching down for one try apiece.

Oliver Cooke (RBAI), was successful with all five of his conversion kicks.

Schools Training Camps

On Friday 12 December, Campbell College played Methodist College in an end of training camp game on the Algarve in Portugal.

Campbell College won the game, 23-12.

1XV Friendlies

Several 1XV friendly games took place on Saturday 13 December.

Antrim Grammar School played Lurgan College in a game Antrim Grammar won, 47-7.

Jonah Woolley, with a hattrick, Tom McNeilly, Cameron Molyneaux, Ethan Carr and Isaac Lynn were the Antrim Grammar try scorers.

Isaac Lynn was successful with six of his conversion kicks.

The Lurgan College points came through a try from Andrew Bird which was converted by Ben Maxwell.

Ballymena Academy played Rainey Endowed School in a game Ballymena Academy won, 26-7.

Jacob Casson was the hero of the day for Ballymena Academy with a hattrick of tries, alongside a fourth try from Seth McCreadie.

Daniel Johnston was successful with three of his conversion kicks.

The Rainey points came as the result of a penalty try being awarded.

Banbridge Academy played Regent House School in a game Regent House won, 29-12.

Matthew Callaghan and Oliver Heasley each scored two tries for Regent House with Tom Bell touching down for one try.

Zach McMinn added the extras to two of the Regent House tries.

On the back of a fine performance from Fynn Niblock, Sam Leslie and Luke Wills each scored a try for Banbridge Academy.

Max Ireland was successful with one of his conversion kicks.

Belfast High School hosted Cambridge House Grammar School and Larne Grammar School in a blitz tournament.

Belfast High School lost to Larne Grammar School by 17-14.

The Belfast High points in this game came through tries from Ben Gardner and Will McIlveen to which Matthew McCabe added both successful conversion kicks.

Ryan McDowell scored two tries for Larne Grammar with Matthew Crawford touching down for a third try.

Matthew was also successful with one of his conversion kicks.

Belfast High then played, and defeated, Cambridge House by 29-14.

Ben Gardner, with four and Hubert Jaszczak scored the Belfast High School tries to which Matthew McCabe added two successful conversion kicks.

The Cambridge House points in this game came through tries from Alfie Sheeran and Shay Gill alongside two successful Thomas Moorehead conversion kicks.

The Cambridge House game against Larne Grammar ended with a 17-14 victory for Larne Grammar.

The Cambridge House points came through tries from Henri Kyle and Shay Gill with Thomas Moorehead adding both successful conversion kicks.

Ryan McDowell dotted down for another two tries in this game with Benjamin Sterling running in for a third Larne Grammar try.

Matthew Crawford was successful with one of his conversion kicks.

Foyle College hosted Royal School Dungannon in a high scoring, closely contested game RS Dungannon won, 33-31.

Cian O’Leary scored four tries for Foyle College, with Luke Wilson touching down for a fifth try.

Darwyn Nutt was successful with three of his conversion kicks.

RS Dungannon scored five tries as well during the game.

The impressive James Gibson and Blake Redmond both ran in for a brace with Matthew Smith touching down for a fifth.

Joel Clarke was successful with four of his conversion kicks.

Omagh Academy played Enniskillen Royal Grammar School in a game he Omagh Academy won, 17-7.

Isaac Crawford, Lewis Cooke and Sam Harper scored the Omagh tries to which Sam added the extras to one of the tries.

Jamie Morrow scored the Enniskillen RGS try with Sam Paton adding the extras.

Wallace High School played RBAI in a hard- fought encounter RBAI won, 24-10.

Luke Dillon scored the Wallace try to which Alex Stevenson added the successful conversion kick as well as one penalty goal.

RBAI scored four tries in the course of the game.

Sebastian Clarke, Matthew Watkins, Benjamin McCarten and Elliot Magowan ran in for the tries to which Charlie O’Connor added two successful conversion kicks.
