On Wednesday 17 September Regent House School played an U16 team against their close neighbours from Glastry College.
Regent House won the game but was made to work hard for the victory by a very determined Glastry College.
Players such as Harry Spence, Oliver Heasley, Matthew Wilson, Matthew Brittan, Daniel Mooney, Jack Heron, Alfie Collins and Jamie Angus impressed with their performances for the Regent House team.
Glastry College players such as centre, Joshua Pollock, second row, Aidan Malone and winger, Ethan Grierson, stood out with their performances throughout the game.
Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U16 Shield
On Saturday, Enniskillen Royal Grammar played Regent House.
The Regent House School U16 team won the Danske Bank Ulster Schools’ U16 Shield game by 20-17.
1XV Friendlies
On Saturday 20 September, a lot of 1XV friendly games took place.
An Antrim Grammar School “Senior” XV played a Methodist College “Select” XV in a game the Methodist College team won by 24-7.
The Antrim Grammar School points came through a try from Declan McDonnell which was converted by Harry Smith.
MCB’s points were all scored by William Carson who ran in for four tries and added two successful conversion kicks.
Ballyclare High School hosted a Campbell College “Select” XV in a game Campbell College won by 31-26.
Zach Thompson touched down for two tries for Ballyclare with Jude Semple and Josh Tweed running in for one try apiece.
James Woodside added two successful conversion kicks with Jude Semple adding a third.
Campbell College’s points came through tries from Sam Rennicks, with a brace, Caleb Lockhart, Fred Claney and Jack Thompson.
Team captain, Matty Thompson, added three successful conversions for Campbell College which had a number of standout players, such as Tom Alexander, Charlie Clarke, David Chitoko and Theo Scott, on display.
Ballymena Academy travelled to Dublin where they played Wesley College in a very closely contested game the Ballymena Academy team won by 25-24.
The Wesley points came through tries from Johnny Woods, with two, Markbryan Dodds and Matthew Wystepek.
Johnny Woods was also successful with two of his conversion kicks.
Ballymena Academy scored three tries through Ollie Shaw, Charlie Hargy and Jacob Casson.
James McMillan was successful with two conversion kicks as well as two penalty kicks.
Campbell College played their annual game with Christian Brother’s College, Dublin and recorded a comprehensive 66-7 victory.
Campbell scored ten tries with Russell Lovo touching down for a hattrick, Isaac Hatch and Dylan Armstrong each touching down for a brace and Iaith Hanash, Zach Thompson and Ruairi Parks each touching down for one try.
Jack Best added the extras to eight of the Campbell tries.
Christian Brother’s contributed a lot to the game and got some reward for their efforts when Liam Young ran in for a try which he converted.
Coleraine Grammar School played Omagh Academy in a closely contested game the Coleraine Grammar School team won by 34-33.
Luke McAuley, Myles Johnston, the impressive Joshua Hawe, on the back of good work from Austin Henry and Archie McLenaghan, scored the Coleraine tries.
Ben Todd added three successful conversion kicks as well as one successful penalty goal.
Luke McAuley added a fourth conversion kick as well as a monster forty-five metre penalty kick to win the match.
Omagh’s points came through one penalty try as well as tries from Harry McIlwaine, Ashton Hassard, Isac Crawford and Joshua Orr.
Sam Harper was successful with three of his conversion kicks.
Down High School played Grosvenor Grammar School and won the game by 40-0.
Among the scorers for Down High were Josh McCaughey, Cameron Connolly, Alex Watson, Ethan Whyte, Paddy Dooley, Jacob Bradshaw and Joe Bailie.
Dromore High School played Lurgan College at the Barban Hill venue and won the game by 17-7.
Dromore High scored three tries through Rob Russell with two and Alfie Clarke.
Alfie added the extras to one of the Dromore High School tries.
Daniel Wilson ran in for the Lurgan try to which Ben Maxwell added the conversion.
Enniskillen Royal Grammar School played Regent House School in a game Enniskillen Royal won by 38-12.
Sam Clarke, Jake Irwin, Ben Wallace, with two, Adam Little and Paul Curry were the Enniskillen try scorers.
Sam Paton added two successful conversion kicks with Kristen Fee doing likewise.
The Regent points came through tries from Toby McSorley and Finn McClean with Jed Pountney adding one successful conversion kick.
Foyle College played their northwest rivals from Limavady Grammar School and won the game by 24-0.
Thom O’Neill, with two, Jack Peace and Niall Kelly were the Foyle try scorers.
Niall Kelly rounded off a good display with two successful conversion kicks.
Friends’ School, Lisburn hosted Cambridge House Grammar School and recorded a comprehensive 51-7 victory.
Matthew Hare, with two, Isaac Warwick, with two, Joel Irwin, Eddie Hall, Ross Glover, Max Warwick and Eddie Maguire scored the Friends’ tries.
Ross Glover added the extras to three of the Friends’ tries.
Cambridge House’s points came through a try from Henry Kyle which was converted by Thomas Moorehead.
Larne Grammar School hosted a Royal Belfast Academical Institution “Select” XV in a game Larne won by 35-28.
The Larne Grammar points came through tries from Jonnie Kennedy, with two, Ryan McDowell, with two and Benjamin Sterling.
Jonnie Kennedy rounded off a fine personal performance with five successful conversion kicks.
Matthew Watkins, Ruari Lester, Adam Middleby and Jude Hewitt scored the RBAI tries.
Ollie Taylor was successful with all four of his conversion kicks.
Portadown College played Bangor Grammar School in a game Bangor won by 39-12.
Portadown College scored two tries through Vikaris Jokubauskis and Ethan Brookes with Ben McBurney adding one successful conversion kick.
Bangor Grammar scored seven tries through Cal Banyard, Rory Wilson, Calvin Cousins, with two, Albie Scott, Rory Mooney and Ryan Gowdy.
Adam Bickerstaff was successful with two of his conversion kicks.
Rainey Endowed School played Dalriada School for the Arthur Topping Memorial Cup and won the game by 56-14.
Jacob Ennis-McManus, with a hattrick, Luke Caskey, Max Allen, Lorcan McLarnon, Jude Clearey-McPuffin and Harry Dawson were the Rainey try scorers.
Adrian Martin added six successful conversion kicks with Christy McDonnell kicking another two successful conversions for the Rainey team.
Dalriada’s points came through tries from Archie Graham and Matthew Nicholl with Chris Finney adding the extras to both tries.
Royal Belfast Academical Institution played Banbridge Academy and won the game by 43-3.
Cian McClean, with two, Adam Millar, Andrew Purcell, Sam Coulter, Elliott Magowan and Matthew Elliott were the RBAI try scorers.
Jonah Power was successful with four of his conversion kicks.
The Banbridge points came through a penalty goal from Daniel Byrne early in the game.
Royal School Armagh played Belfast Royal Academy which saw BRA record a 14-12 lead at the final whistle of the game.
RS Armagh’s points came through tries from Joshua George and Nathan Hamilton with Tom Kennedy adding the extras to one try.
Caleb McWhinney and Alex Simon scored the BRA tries with Connor McVicker converting both tries.
Royal School Dungannon entertained Sullivan Upper School in a game Sullivan won by 26-8.
RS Dungannon scored a try through Reuben Gallagher to which James Gibson added one successful penalty kick.
Sullivan’s points came from a penalty try, two tries from Josh Watts and one try from Sebby Gorman.
Henry Calvert added two successful conversion kicks.
Wallace High School played Methodist College in a very close encounter from which Methodist College emerged as 22-21 winners.
James Gould and Luka Matchett scored first half tries for Wallace with Luka touching down for his second try of the game in the second half.
James Curran added the extras to all three of the Wallace High School tries.
Methodist College scored four tries during the game through Alex Turkington, Sam Nixon, Luca Vericat and Isaac Bell.
Louis Curran added one successful conversion kick.
