The champions were full value for playing to their strengths in carving out further tries for Grainne Cleary, Orlagh O’Brien, Lily Harney and Maebh Ní Cholla.
Ulster came with a clear and concise game plan, hammering in the runners to narrow Leinster’s defence, with Ireland international Olivia McKinley leading the way.
The opening ten minutes were full of Northern bursts, hooker Alice Seaney, number eight Ciara Lewis and centre Brooke Schoendfelt carrying at every opportunity.
However, Leinster’s defence was well-drilled. Second row O’Brien, number eight Emma O’Rourke and tighthead prop Lily Murphy turned back wave after wave of attack.
Once the home province dealt with the physical, but slightly predictable threats, they were quick to make their frontfoot ball deliver points. It was left wing Rebecca Cahill who was the beneficiary of the work of others on the inside to provide two tries in four minutes.
First, the Portlaoise flyer was in position to finish off the solid forward work and the playmaking decisions of half-backs Jade Carroll and Sophia White in the ninth minute.
Then, a smooth lineout was the platform for a first phase strike to work the oracle for Cahill to complete the double in the 13th minute.
The third try followed, unusually, from White’s penalty which drifted across the posts and bounced up for the super-vigilant centre Cleary to pounce for White to convert for a 17-0 Leinster lead at the break.
The home side’s ball handling was slick enough to exploit space on the outside where wings Harney and Cahill worked together as a pair, popping up on opposite wings to supply an extra attacker.
The hard-working O’Brien was rewarded with the fourth try from a 10-metre burst and reach for the line.
The willingness to go to the edge was the basis for Harney’s try, converted by White from close to the touchline in the 53rd minute.
Replacement scrum-half Ní Cholla sniped for the sixth try at the posts to make White’s conversion a formality.
There was still time enough for the excellent McKinley to grab Ulster’s only try, converted by replacement Meabh Hull.
Scorers
Leinster: R Cahill 2 tries; G Cleary, O O’Brien, L Harney, M Ni Cholla try each; S White 3 cons.
