Men's Championship Leagues draw to a close

This weekend we will find out the winners of Championship 1, 2 and 3 as the leagues draw to a close.

Championship 1

There is much still to play for on the final weekend of Championship 1 action.

Dromore sitting atop the table having won all 17 league fixtures to date, but still need a minumum of 1 bonus point at the weekend to secure the title and their place in the AIL playoffs in April. Their opponents, Portadown, themselves need a bonus point to secure their place in the top 4 and a place in the AIL Junior Cup play offs.

Enniskillen have pushed Dromore all the way this season and play 3rd placed Cooke at 5pm.  If Dromore fail to gain a league point in their fixture against Portadown then Enniskillen would require a bonus point win to secure the title.

There is much also to play to play for at the bottom end of the table, with Grosvenor and Randalstown jostling it out to avoid 9th place and the dreaded relegation play-off. Grosvenor travel to 7th place Lurgan, following an impressive attacking display against league leaders Dromore last weekend. Randalstown host bottom side City of Derry, and will be hoping to put in a strong performance to overcome the 1 point deficit between themselves and Grosvenor.

Elsewhere Bangor travel to Ballymoney, where the home side will hope to secure a bonus point win to keep their feint hope's of a top 4 finish alive. Bangor head in to the match in good form with two bonus point wins recorded in the league so far in March.

Championship 2

CIYMS secured the Championship 2 title last weekend, following a bonus point win over Letterkenny and with 2nd place side Carrickfergus slipping up on the road to Monaghan.

CIYMS put themselves in to prime position for the title with a tense 17-15 win over Carrickfergus on Wednesday 12 April in front of a good crowd at Belmont.

Elsewhere in the league, Cavan have already been consigned to relegation, whilst Coleraine will play the 2nd place side in Championship 3 in the play off fixture.

Only a single point separates Ards and Limavady in the battle for third place, Limavady will hope to make home advantage count, whilst Ards will be hoping for a morale boosting win ahead of their Junior Shield final next weekend.

Championship 3

Saturday marks the second last full card of fixtures in Championship 3. Larne travel to Donaghadee and will hope to secure a single point that will crown them champions. Donaghadee, on the other hand, will hope to upset the party and continue their quest for 2nd place and a go at the end of season play offs.

Strabane retain very feint hopes of winning the title and will be focused on trying to achieve full points over mid-table Holywood.
