The selection marks another impressive milestone in Niamh’s rapid rise through the game. Having only taken up rugby in 2022, she made her Ulster debut the following year and crossed the try line in the province’s memorable victory over Connacht during the 2023 Interprovincial Championship.
A talented dual-sport athlete, Marley made the move to rugby following a decorated Gaelic football career, which included an All-Ireland Intermediate title, back-to-back Ulster Senior Championships (2021 & 2022), and recognition as an Irish News All-Star in 2022.
Her natural athleticism and competitive edge have seen her progress rapidly through the representative ranks, earning a call-up to the Wolfhounds and contributing to the inaugural Celtic Challenge-winning squad.
Most recently, Marley was ever-present throughout the 2025 Interprovincial Championship, bringing her trademark physicality and work rate to each contest. Her consistent performances have made her a dependable presence within Ulster’s women’s side and a standout example of the province’s developing talent.
Speaking on her selection “It still feels surreal to be heading to Dubai with the Ireland 7s squad, especially having only started playing rugby a couple of years ago. I’ve learned so much since joining Ulster, and I’m just so grateful for the coaches and teammates who’ve believed in me along the way. I’m looking forward to learning as much as I can and making the most of the experience.”
Ulster Rugby wishes Niamh and the Ireland 7s squad every success as they compete on the world stage in Dubai.
From Saturday 29 November to Sunday 30 November 2025, the Emirates Dubai 7s Tournament is back again at Dubai’s iconic Sevens.
